Job Summary The Enterprise Systems Administrator is responsible for the advanced operational administration, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the College’s enterprise infrastructure systems across on-premises and cloud-hosted environments, with a strong emphasis on Linux server administration and enterprise systems operations. The position provides senior-level technical expertise in the administration of Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualization platforms, Microsoft 365 services, cloud technologies, enterprise storage, monitoring systems, backup and disaster recovery solutions, database platforms, and automation technologies supporting critical academic and administrative services. The incumbent leads operational infrastructure activities including server provisioning, implementation of new systems, operating systems and application upgrades, patch management, security remediation, backup and recovery operations, and infrastructure maintenance while ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise systems and services. Working with a high degree of independence and technical judgement, the incumbent diagnoses and resolves complex infrastructure, operating system, application, database, and cloud-related issues through advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, monitoring, scripting, and automation. The role develops and maintains operational procedures, automation scripts, and technical documentation to improve operational efficiency, consistency, scalability, and service delivery. The Enterprise Systems Administrator also acts as a senior technical escalation resource and mentor for Help Desk and junior technical staff, while coordinating with infrastructure teams, application owners, database administrators, departmental stakeholders, and third-party vendors to support enterprise technologies, planned maintenance activities, and operational service continuity across the organization. Participate in after-hours maintenance activities, on-call support rotations, emergency response, and planned service interruptions as required to maintain critical IT services and infrastructure availability. To be compliant with the Acceptance of Payment Card Policy and PCI Requirements, this position is required to provide a Police Check prior to the commencement of employment. What you’ll be doing: IT Server Infrastructure Administration, Support & Troubleshooting Perform advanced Linux systems administration activities including user and group administration, storage management, service configuration, kernel updates, log analysis, shell scripting, and troubleshooting of enterprise applications and services. Support and maintain Linux and Windows based infrastructure services and platforms, including web services, application servers, container hosts, scheduled job automation, secure remote access, and system monitoring integrations. Diagnose and resolve complex Linux and Windows operating systems, performance, networking, and service-related issues through root cause analysis, system diagnostics, log review, and coordination with application owners, DBA’s and infrastructure teams. Provide senior level operational administration, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of enterprise infrastructure systems spanning on-premises datacenters and cloud-hosted environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, security, and performance of critical hosts, virtual machines, applications and services. Administer and support complex Microsoft 365 and Cloud environments, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, licensing governance, authentication services, conditional access, and enterprise collaboration technologies, user objects, group policies and organization units. Provide advanced operational support and administration for enterprise database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Postgre, MariaDB, MongoDB and others. Lead systems administration tasks include patch management, system hardening, antivirus management, certificate maintenance, and security remediation activities. Lead and coordinate enterprise server infrastructure provisioning, implementation of new systems, system upgrades, and operating system and application maintenance activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors to ensure successful delivery, minimal service disruption, and alignment with operational requirements. Manage and prioritize operational service requests, incidents, problem investigations, and change activities through the IT service management process while meeting established service levels and documentation standards. Install, replace, and troubleshoot physical server and storage hardware and infrastructure components including but not limited to storage drives, memory, power supplies, network adapters and cabling. Develop, maintain, and enhance complex automation scripts, tooling and playbooks using PowerShell, Bash, Ansible or other technologies to improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery. Lead backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations for servers, databases, virtual machines, enterprise applications, accounts and files, including regular validation and testing of restore procedures. Administration and support of the development of new and existing technologies, and policies and procedures. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior technical staff and support teams through knowledge sharing, operational guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and procedural development. Provide exceptional customer service in response to requests made by students, facility, administrative and support staff, and vendors. Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational standards, support processes, automation practices, and infrastructure administration procedures to enhance service quality, operational maturity, and organizational efficiency. Administer and support Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms and integrations, including vendor coordination, troubleshooting, identity and access management, single sign-on (SSO) configuration, certificate lifecycle management, provisioning, authentication services, and ongoing operational support to ensure secure, reliable, and seamless service delivery. IT Infrastructure Monitoring Support and maintain enterprise monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational reporting platforms to ensure visibility into infrastructure health, service performance, and capacity utilization. Perform advanced systems monitoring, operational analysis, incident response, and root cause investigation across enterprise infrastructure platforms to ensure service continuity and proactive issue resolution. Monitoring of server infrastructure, servers, services, applications, storage and database performance, capacity, utilization and event logs to to ensure daily operations are not affected and proactively resolve issues before they occur. Ensure all IT infrastructure components are adequality being monitored and appropriate alerts configured and tuned. Monitoring on premise and cloud data backups to ensure they run and complete on time and without errors or corruption. Documentation, Standards, and Compliance Maintain and enhance enterprise technical documentation, systems configurations, recovery processes, support standards, system inventories, and knowledge base resources. Document and maintain standard operating procedures for provisioning of servers, services, applications, and application integrations. Provide standard operating procedures to the Service Desk. Assist with training and adoption of new solutions and processes including development and delivery of training plans, materials and documentation. Document incidents following the incident response framework. Help develop disaster planning playbooks to guide the college through significant events and crises. Document diagnostic steps, troubleshooting activities, and resolution details within the IT service management system. Stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices. Other duties as assigned. What you’ll bring to the role: 3 year diploma/degree in Computer Science Technology. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE). Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers. Windows Server Hybrid Administrator. Teams Administrator. Messaging Administrator. Azure Administrator. 5 years in the Information technology field with direct working experience in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint), Microsoft Azure cloud Administration and technologies, PowerShell scripting, VMware/Hyper-V, Veeam Backup and Recovery, and Dell servers and enterprise storage systems. Minimum of 5 years in the Information Technology field with direct working experience in Red Hat Linux.
