We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. This position is responsible for supervising and managing all of the operational functions of BST, Sweeping, programs for the Yukon’s highways systems. In conjunction with the Head Planner, and area Superintendents this position reviews program plans and determines best methods to operationalize plans. Coordinates and supervises capital road resurfacing projects and provides supervision for emergency response. Monitors budgets and prepares reports including the evaluation of each program area and develops business case solutions to improve on any deficiencies. Liaises with Property Management to ensure maintenance on all TMB buildings is completed and makes recommendations for future TMB buildings. Manages an in-house facilities budget and will plan and execute projects directly. Assisting with tendering and contract management throughout the year. Site inspections as necessary.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in highway maintenance or construction setting;
  • Experience supervising, scheduling, orientation and evaluating employees;
  • Experience in budgeting and planning
  • Experience using a variety of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and Outlook);

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

  • Experience with Project Management

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • Yukon Class 5 driver’s license

  • Yukon Class 3 driver’s license with air brakes (must be obtained within 12 months of hire)

  • Transportation Dangerous Goods Certificate (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).

Job Requirements

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:

  • Extensive travel throughout the Yukon.
