Nature of the work

In accordance with the policies and practices of the School Board and the regulations of the Ministère de l’Éducation (MEQ), the Principal must, on a daily basis, make administrative and pedagogical decisions pertaining to the school in order to foster the academic success of all students in accordance with the Education Act, the ETSB’s Commitment-to-Success Plan and policies.

The position entails, in particular, responsibility for the management of instructional and educational matters, human, financial, material and information resources, day care services and community relations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or undergraduate university degree in an appropriate field of study attesting to a university study program of a minimum duration of 3 years. Graduate program of university studies including a minimum of 30 credits in management relevant to the job of school administrator. (A minimum of 6 credits must have been acquired prior to the first appointment to a senior staff position in a school and the remaining credits should be acquired during the five years following such appointment. In exceptional cases, the school board may refer a candidate who has not accumulated six credits to a selection committee). Eight years of relevant experience. Permanent teaching permit issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation (MEQ.)

The courage and integrity to lead with compassion - able to make difficult decisions and engage in honest, respectful conversations when necessary. A strong ability to build and nurture high-functioning, trust-based teams that work collaboratively to meet student and school needs. Visionary thinking paired with the organizational skills to lead change, set direction, and mobilize a school community toward common goals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with parents, staff, students, and community partners. Full proficiency in English and French (oral and written). A commitment to evidence-based practices and data-informed decision-making. Demonstrated effectiveness as a classroom teacher and evidence of ongoing professional growth. Familiarity with the ETSB’s Commitment to Success Plan and its guiding principles, including the developmental approach and professional learning communities. Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain composure in high-stakes situations.

Interviews with selected candidates will be conducted on Wednesday, August 5th at the Central Offices in Magog.
