What To Expect The Sustainability Environment Impact Specialist is responsible for daily environmental operations to contribute actively to Nespresso Sustainability projects, Life Cycle Assessments, implementing GHG emissions reduction plan, environmental and capsule recycling audits. This role includes coordinating packaging developments and waste management to reduce the business footprint and become carbon neutral.
A day in the life of a Sustainability Environment Impact Specialist Program execution and support
- Coordinate existing programs and projects relating to Nespresso Canada net zero goals.
- Coordinate waste reduction and circularity programs with operations and team leads across the country as per Nestlé guidelines and standards.
- Develop procedures and standards in responding to operational requests, and Nespresso sites and business partner’s needs.
- Develop and execute new solutions from ideation to implementation including full feasibility studies (P&L impact) within Nespresso operations or at partner's sites
Circularity subject matter expert (SME)
- Provide technical expertise on circularity programs involving various stakeholders such as PROs, governmental agencies, business partners, consultants and internal teams (operations, marketing, procurement, etc).
- Provide support to the company’s customer-facing employees (CRC, B2C, B2B, boutiques, etc) for environmental sustainability-related inquiries/requests (ex: raise employees’ awareness, Q&As, scripts for corporate communication.
- Support to Environmental Sustainability Impact Manager in the development of the Sustainability budget and cost
Data management and internal reporting
- Work closely with Sustainability data analysts to ensure fluid data collection processes, appropriate compilation and data quality.
- Develop and maintain KPIs and ensure timely reporting by collaborating with internal/external stakeholders. Develop dashboards for management committee.
Stewardship program
- Submit accurate Stewardship / EPR reports to provincial agencies in a timely fashion. Follow up on questions, fee payments and invoices.
- Monitor the evolution of frameworks and standards relating to stewardship programs / EPR.
Audit
- Lead environmental recycling audits (ISO 14001, BCorp, Recycling certification) on an annual basis. Attend audits as needed.
- Provide technical support regarding audit guidelines and standards.
- Provides insights to internal teams to achieve BCORP, environmental improvements, ISO standards, etc.
Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE)
- Participate in corporate meetings, own several KPIs, prepare monthly presentations. Improve KPIs with NCE methodology (DMAIC, LEAN, GSTD).
- Demonstrate value creation though a Lean Enterprise Mindset. Participates in lean value stream executed with suppliers and partners.
- Leverage efficient planning (and related processes) to ensure availability of goods and services as a key competitive advantage and to achieve operational targets.
Role Requirements
- Bilingualism in English and French language skills are a requirement, as this position requires collaboration with stakeholders across the Canadian market and/or worldwide.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Sustainability, data processing, analyzing KPIs for reporting, and developing actionable insights
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Sustainability.
- Master's degree in environmental or sustainability management is an asset.
- Working knowledge of standards like EPA Energy Star, and ISO (14000/50001/26000) an asset
- Familiarity with life cycle assessments (LCA), and experience with carbon accounting and reduction plans.
- Project management skills (budget, deadlines, stakeholders, presentations, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organization skills, presentation development skills, and attention to detail. Ability to produce and communicate concepts and recommendations clearly, concisely, and persuasively
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications including MS Excel, Power BI, Powerpoint, ArcGIS.
