About the role
Collaborative Combat Aircraft Technical Leader
Preferred Location: Ottawa, Toronto, or Montreal (Hybrid + Field Deployable)
Type: Full-Time
About Dominion Dynamics
Dominion Dynamics is building Canada’s first modern defence prime: software-defined, attritable, and sovereign.
We believe tomorrow’s military power won’t hinge on exquisite platforms, but on the seamless coordination of adaptable, AI-driven capabilities across every domain. We’re building that family of systems, fielded with operators, sovereign by design, and accountable to Canada’s democratic values.
We move fast, deploy with the CAF, especially in the Arctic, and operate with uncompromising respect for Canadian law, treaty obligations, and the CAF community.
Our founding team includes former operators from Anduril, Google, Amazon, and the Canadian Armed Forces. We’re building hard tech in hard places, and we're looking for system-level thinkers who thrive at the intersection of autonomy, aerospace, and national security.
Why This Role Matters
Canada is entering a critical window to field autonomous airpower that is sovereign, interoperable, and ready for contested environments. Dominion needs a CCA Architect who can turn advanced autonomy concepts into working systems—bridging simulation, embedded flight, and command-and-control networks. This role is central to ensuring Canada doesn’t just buy autonomy, but builds and owns it as a strategic capability with allies.
The Role: Collaborative Aircraft Technical Leader
As the Collaborative Combat Technical Leader CCA Architect, you’ll be shaping the autonomy stack for next-generation collaborative combat aircraft. This is a hands-on builder role at the intersection of simulation, embedded flight systems, and command-and-control integration, where you’ll design swarm behaviours, harden them against contested environments, and guide them into live deployments. At its core, the role is about turning Canada’s vision for sovereign, attritable autonomy into operational reality, delivering capability that works in the field, integrates with allies, and scales into the future of airpower.
What You'll Do
- Architect the autonomy stack for collaborative combat aircraft platforms
- Design swarm logic and multi-agent coordination behaviors in synthetic environments
- Lead integration of autonomy agents onto embedded flight hardware and compute-constrained systems
- Collaborate with simulation engineers to run high-fidelity virtual environments (e.g. Unreal, Unity, or DIS/HLA)
- Ensure seamless integration of air platforms with command-and-control software and tactical networks
- Guide field deployments, live testing, and iterative validation of autonomy behaviors
- Define and document interfaces for CCA payloads, communications, and interoperability with allied platforms
- Stay ahead of adversary threat models, electronic warfare challenges, and contested airspace constraints
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace, autonomy, robotics, or tactical simulation systems
- Deep knowledge of control systems, flight autonomy, or multi-agent coordination
- Hands-on experience with ROS2, PX4, or embedded flight controllers
- Familiarity with NATO interoperability standards (e.g. Link-16, DDS, JAUS)
- Experience integrating AI/ML agents into synthetic and embedded systems
- Mission-aligned mindset, motivated to build sovereign capabilities that defend Canada and its allies
- Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguity-rich environments, ideally at the intersection of startup and defence.
Why Join Us
At Dominion Dynamics, we’re designing systems that work where others fail, in the most extreme environments on Earth.
At Dominion Dynamics you’ll:
- Shape the future of Canada’s sovereign defence.
- Build real capability that fields with CAF and allies.
- Move fast, field fast with small teams, high trust, and rapid iteration.
- Operate with integrity under Canadian law and treaty obligations.
- Have impact from day one with equity, responsibility, and direct access to leadership.
If you’re driven by innovation, adaptability, and the opportunity to make a strategic impact, this is where you belong!
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary, meaningful equity participation, comprehensive benefits, and travel support as required.
