About the role

This position is responsible for the implementation of data governance, data privacy strategies, and security controls, including scanning and testing. The Analyst will be involved in a range of projects and will work with a broad group of stakeholders in helping to understand their data requirements, update data governance policies, and apply those policies. The Analyst will work with the Cybersecurity Team on development and implementation of DLP and retention policies.

This role will require a combination of people skills to work with various departments to help them through their data governance journey, and technical skills to implement the policies in data governance software. Accomplishing these objectives will help to protect company, employee and corporate data, and work towards creating a safe-data environment.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Analysis of the location of structured and unstructured data.
  • Enhancing our current data classifications and building them into MS Purview.
  • Work with external stakeholders to define data ownership.
  • Work with external stakeholders to determine data lifecycle management, and DLP policies.
  • Work with IT departments to implement lifecycle management and apply DLP policies in MS Defender and MS Purview.
  • Work with IT departments on securely managing data in MS Azure, ServiceNow, Salesforce, UKG, SolarWinds and other enterprise SAAS application.
  • Work with IT departments to move, transform and model our data to be consumed by AI.
  • Participate fully in our organizational health and safety programs, adhering to all safe work practices and procedures and staying focused on continuous improvement. In addition, ensuring all Accident Prevention Program (APP’s) training, all Code of Business Conduct (CoBC) training, and all other Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training are completed on time.
  • Perform timely completion of all administrative tasks including, but not limited to time reporting, expense reporting and submission of corporate card statements, as applicable.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, security apps development, network and security, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of different network communication protocols (TCP, UDP etc.).
  • Understanding of privacy regulations such as PIPEDA and GDPR.
  • Strong understanding of data mining and visualization.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence algorithms and approaches
  • Experience with the implementation of data governance strategies, data security and/or audit controls including data classification auditing, data privacy testing, and system implementations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and observational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional team meetings to discuss and resolve data privacy challenges
  • Good leadership skills, including the ability to take initiative, problem solve, and challenge the status quo.
  • Knowledge of the elements of a health & safety program will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in MS Purview and MS Defender an asset
  • Knowledge in Azure and MS Fabric and MS SQL an asset
