Job description:
The Hydraulic Design Engineer will act as a central hydraulic design resource to support the personnel related to design of hydraulic passageways of hydro turbines at all stages for both new units, runner replacements and rehabilitation projects. This mandate will include the following:
- Definition, development, maintenance, and modification of hydraulic engineering tools and processes;
- Performing CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses;
- Support for bids, including preliminary design and design reviews;
- Analysis of design requirements;
- Support the development of hydraulic designs for turbine components of various types;
- Collaboration with the hydraulic laboratory team in Linz for model turbine development;
- Collaborating with mechanical engineering and contract hydraulic engineers to ensure the continuous execution of development contracts.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree his highly desirable;
- Ideally, minimum of five (5) years of experience in hydro engineering;
- Candidate must hold membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or meet the eligibility criteria to obtain such membership;
- Creativity, problem solving skills, and demonstrated consistent attention to detail;
- Strong ability to work in a team environment and excellent communication skills (oral & written);
- Self-directed and proven leadership skills;
- Familiarity with CFD calculations for hydraulice turbines;
- Knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of hydro-electric power plant equipment;
- Interest in programming with ideally some experience in bash and Python scripting
- Fluency in French and English – spoken and written.
