Job Summary
The Drop in Music Convenor is responsible for supervising and monitoring youth drop-in program to ensure a safe and enjoyable playing environment.
Job Duties
- Unlocks and locks-up the facility/program location as required.
- Organizes the physical set-up and general clean-up of the program area. Ensures that all equipment is put away at the end of the time period.
- Collects petty cash for “drop-in” admissions and places in safe. Totals admissions and signs off.
- Within a casual and informal setting, may organize “drop-in” children and youth participants into teams based on the age and ability of each participant.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, reporting to the Program Coordinator/ Recreation Supervisor any items needing replacing.
- Ensures that “drop-in” participants under the age of twelve are signed in and out of facility/program area
Qualifications/Requirements
- Attending or has partially completed high school
- Minimum age of 16 years old at the start of employment
- Must have proficient knowledge of music theory and / or 3 years of playing in a band.
- Ability to facilitate a jam experience for a variety of skills and ages
- Knowledge of Keyboards, drums, guitar, bass and vocals an asset..
- One year of previous experience working with children and youth in sports setting.
- Experience with youth / teens and conflict resolution an asset.
- Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’
- Good verbal/written communication skills, customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
