Warehouse Supervisor

About the role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and highly organized Warehouse Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, lead the warehouse team, and ensure productivity, safety, accuracy, and service standards are consistently achieved.

This position is ideal for an experienced warehouse leader who is comfortable managing people, improving processes, solving operational challenges, and stepping into different warehouse functions when additional support is needed. The successful candidate will lead by example and remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Oversee daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, order preparation, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory movement Ensure daily productivity, accuracy, quality, and service targets are achieved Organize warehouse workflows and prioritize tasks according to operational requirements Monitor staffing and workload levels and reassign team members as needed Assist with warehouse duties during busy periods or staffing shortages Ensure materials and products are stored, handled, and moved safely and efficiently Review operational reports and use the information to support planning and decision-making

Team Leadership

Lead, supervise, coach, and support warehouse employees Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and workplace conduct Provide ongoing training, feedback, and performance coaching Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and respectful communication Lead by example and consistently demonstrate the organization’s expected character qualities and workplace values Address employee concerns and operational issues calmly and professionally Support the onboarding and training of new warehouse employees

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve warehouse productivity, workflow, accuracy, safety, and organization Develop, document, and implement improved warehouse processes and procedures Monitor the effectiveness of new processes and make adjustments when required Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve operational challenges Use reports, performance information, and employee feedback to identify areas for improvement Support inventory control and help investigate discrepancies or recurring errors

Health and Safety

Ensure all warehouse activities are completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements Promote safe material-handling practices throughout the warehouse Ensure employees properly use personal protective equipment and warehouse equipment Conduct regular warehouse inspections and address potential hazards Support incident investigations and corrective actions when required Safely operate material-handling equipment when necessary

Qualifications

Experience and Education High school diploma or equivalent Three to five years of warehouse experience Previous warehouse leadership, supervisory, or management experience Demonstrated experience developing and implementing process improvements Previous logistics or distribution experience is considered an asset Valid Material Handling Equipment certification, or the ability to obtain certification within three months of employment On-site equipment training will be provided when required

Strong leadership, coaching, and team-management skills Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills Ability to lead by example and consistently demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and integrity Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with employees, management, and other departments English reading and writing proficiency Good computer skills, including the ability to review reports and work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to safely and efficiently operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and reach trucks is considered an asset Ability to remain calm and effective when managing high-pressure situations Comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse leadership position

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Work is performed in a fast-paced warehouse environment The Warehouse Manager may be required to assist in receiving, picking, packing, shipping, material handling, or other warehouse functions The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods The position may involve bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials Must be comfortable working around forklifts, reach trucks, and other warehouse equipment Must be able to manage changing priorities and operational demands calmly and effectively
