Job Competencies:
- Experience teaching in a multi-grade setting;
- Cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the provincial IRP's;
- Experience planning with teachers and educational assistants;
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties'
- Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques;
- Strong classroom management skills and excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative problem solving skills;
- Ability to relate well with students, parents and staff members;
- The ability to apply knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of individual and small group instruction;
- The ability to apply knowledge of current effective assessment and instructional practices;
- The ability to adapt curriculum to meet the varying rates, patterns and needs of all students;
- The ability to plan instructional goals and designate outcomes for all students and to clearly communicate those to learners;
- The desire and ability to work alongside teacher colleagues when appropriate and contribute collaboratively as a team member.
Requirements:
- Member of the BC College of Teachers;
- Be willing to submit to a local criminal record check.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Experience in teaching First Nations students at the elementary and secondary levels.
The annual salary range for this position is $15,771 to $25,247.
