MENTAL HEALTH & SUBSTANCE USE CLINICIAN, PRIMARY CARE
About the role
Are you a registered Mental Health & Substance Use Clinician looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Primary Care department.
In accordance with Northern Health’s vision of an idealized system of services where people and their families receive primary care services in Primary Care Homes supported by interprofessional teams, the Primary Care Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Clinician functions as a member of the interprofessional team and applies best practices to provide competent, safe and ethical care for people and their families in settings such as physician practices, homes, schools and communities. Through assessment and involvement of each person and their family, the Primary Care MHSU Clinician develops and implements a plan of care and intervention to assist the person in managing their mental health or addiction challenges. The Primary Care MHSU Clinician will provide care according to the person’s care plan and the person’s personal goals.
Primary Care Networks are partnerships between the Divisions of Family Practice representing BC’s family physicians, the regional health authorities, the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and local community partners, along with other community providers such as nurse practitioners. All partners are working together in their local communities and collectively to redesign B.C.’s primary and community care system so that it works better for patients and health-care providers.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:45 to 16:45

Northern Health is made up of four campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre and Craigieburn Centre.
Our campuses work together to provide a unique mix of services including medical, surgical, emergency, intensive and coronary care, paediatrics, women's and maternal health, mental health, aged care, palliative care, and rehabilitation programs.
These services are provided through inpatient, ambulatory and community-based programs.
Northern Health's programs and services are split into two different streams - acute and sub-acute. This structure is designed to assist services to be integrated across our campuses and ensure that patients have access to the best healthcare within the most efficient time frame.
