What is the opportunity?
As the Small Business Manager, you will begin or advance your career in Business Banking by becoming the steward of RBC’s non-complex Small Business clients, delivering exceptional client experience by addressing the client’s everyday banking needs through effective discovery, focused on credit and investments, maximizing every client contact opportunity to learn more about and referring them to other RBC partners as needed.
You proactively leverage your own capabilities to assist clients with their financing needs continuously learning and developing your knowledge and capability to enable you to provide solid solutions to our clients. Your attention to detail and curious nature will assure an outstanding client experience for every client. What will you do?
- Responsible for retention, growth and oversight of a portfolio of small business clients through disciplined execution of practice management routines.
- Proactively engage with business clients in the branch or business centre by providing every day financial solutions during the account opening process, for credit worthy clients
- Ask questions to uncover additional financial needs that you can help clients with, now or in the future, either by fulfilling or referring them to an RBC partner.
- Educate and sign up clients for our digital/self-serve options like our ATMs and online banking application and proactively advise on Merchant and Cash Management solutions.
- Proactively take ownership of resolving and preventing client banking problems
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with partners to work as one RBC team
- Manage risks by adhering to compliance routines, processes, and controls to protect client and shareholder interests
- As a member of the business banking team, from time to time you may be required to assist clients that are generally served by the Business Service Associate or the Associate Relationship Manager.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Demonstrated passion for putting clients first, as well as success in a client facing, target-driven environment
- Minimum 2 years banking experience, preferably business banking or in branch with personal lending
- Caring, curious, energetic with a desire to help clients and to make a difference within their communities
- Drive and self-motivation, as well as excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Digital literacy across a broad range of devices (i.e., smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.)
- Analytical assessment capabilities
- Proficient computer skills using standard software – Microsoft office suite
- University degree in Business, Finance, Banking, or equivalent qualifications (consideration will be given to individuals pursuing a degree or long tenure with RBC)
- Diploma or associate degree in a relevant discipline
Nice-to-have
- Successful completion of Moody’s Analytics Small Business Lending
- Track record in building rapport and maintaining client relationships within the financial, service, hospitality or retail industry
