Your Opportunity The Academic Integrity Unit (AIU) in the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean (OVPAD) handles allallegations of undergraduate academic misconduct at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) in relation tothe Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters.
As the Academic Integrity Specialist, you will provide a range of confidential administrative support to theacademic integrity and discipline portfolio. You will be responsible for promoting and advancing the mission of theAIU by educating faculty, staff, and students on issues related to academic integrity, by acting as a resource toacademic departments for information about the process involved in academic offence cases, and by facilitatingthe process to handle all allegations of academic misconduct.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated self-starter with impeccable organization and planning skills, as well as possess a high degree of confidentiality and tact when working in this area.
The Academic Integrity Specialist will report directly to the Director, Academic Success and Integrity and will work closely with other Academic Integrity Specialists, the Academic Appeals and Integrity Coordinator, Dean’s Designates, and the Vice-Dean, Academic Experience on all issues related to academic integrity and misconduct at UTM. You will work as part of a team to develop relationshipswith other partners at the University, including academic departments, the Office of the Registrar, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, and the International Education Centre.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Interpreting applicable guidelines and protocols to determine policy violations
- Investigating and reporting on academic related non-compliance issues
- Identifying and reporting on measures taken to address non-compliance issues
- Ensuring resolution of non-compliance cases and transgressions
- Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees
- Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referralsto specific university services
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of recent and related experience, ideally in a post-secondary or academic environment
- Demonstrated experience with academic petitions, appeals, or integrity processes
- Experience interpreting academic regulations and policies
- Experience investigating and reporting on academic related non-compliance issues
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communications (oral and written) skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, empathy, sound judgment and discretion.

- Experience developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
