About The Role Myticas Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior ASIC Design Engineer to join our client’s high-performance hardware development team in Kanata. You will work end-to-end on cutting-edge ASICs for advanced high-speed communication systems, from micro-architecture definition through implementation, verification, and debug.
In this role, you will collaborate with architecture, verification, physical design, and systems teams to deliver high-performance, high-reliability ASICs that power next-generation networking and telecom solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-speed digital designs and contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies and tools.
Responsibilities
- Define micro-architecture and contribute to system-level ASIC design decisions
- Implement and verify complex digital logic for high-performance ASICs (RTL design)
- Debug functional, timing, and integration issues across the full design lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with architecture, verification, physical design, and system teams
- Support design reviews, documentation, and design sign-off activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of ASIC design methodologies, flows, and tools
Requirements
- Must be based in Kanata, Ontario, Canada, or within a reasonable daily commuting distance
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on ASIC digital design experience (e.g., RTL and micro-architecture for complex SoCs/ASICs)
- At least 5 years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in ASIC or digital hardware design engineering roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience defining micro-architecture and implementing RTL for high-performance ASICs
- Proven experience across the full ASIC design flow using industry-standard EDA tools for design, verification, and implementation
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Experience with MATLAB and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl
- Design experience with telecom and high-speed interface protocols (e.g., OTN, CAUI) and Ethernet standards from 100G through 800G
- Background in DSP, FEC, and digital communication theory
