The Opportunity South Bow is looking for a dynamic Indirect Tax Analyst with existing experience in tax compliance, a desire to keep learning, and is excited about technology. The role requires someone with the capability and expertise required to complete various tax compliance duties and reporting responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns across federal, provincial, and state jurisdictions — ensuring accurate and on-time filings and payments
- Manage monthly and annual sales and use tax filings, including maintaining compliant processes within our tax software
- Review invoices, payments, and exemption certificates to ensure proper taxability and sales tax compliance
- Track monthly notice of assessments and perform monthly indirect tax account reconciliations
- Investigate, resolve, and provide analysis on indirect tax issues as they arise
- Respond to tax-related questions from internal teams and external auditors
- Support and respond to tax audits, including providing documentation and addressing queries from authorities
- Conduct technical tax research and stay current on Canadian and U.S. sales tax legislation
- Handle ad hoc projects and compliance, as requested
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 or more years of relevant tax experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A strong background in Microsoft applications, including D365 and Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Working knowledge of Avalara is considered an asset
This Position Requires Candidates To
- Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada and the US)
- Successfully complete pre-employment Bankruptcy, Credit, Civil and Criminal background checks
