_Qualifications
_ Meet criteria as outlined in Qualifications for Teaching Positions in the GVSD #61
Master's Degree or Diploma in Education of Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH) Certification
Fluency in sign, plus qualifications for specific teaching assignments as required for CAEDHH certification
_Abbreviated Job Description
_
- K-12 supporting all schools with student who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Valid BC Driver's License is required
- Assist classroom and learning support teachers in understanding needs and learning characteristics of students who are hard of hearing or who have hearing impairments
- Share in development and implementation of IEPs with Learning Resource teachers and classroom teachers
- Provide IEP progress data and complete required documentation for audit purposes
- Provide consultation and assistance to teachers and other school staff regarding curriculum and classroom activities that require adaptation and planning for ongoing assessment and instruction
- Provide suggestions for making needed environmental adjustments to the school
- Provide direct service to the student as needed, including academic, social and self-advocacy support
- Work with EAs, Interpreters and Transcribers and Technology for Learning staff
- Share resources and educational information with parents as required, working alongside school-based staff
- Collaborate with other district staff including District Learning Support teachers, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists and Psychologists to support teachers and students
- Work with PDHSS, POPDHH and other involved outside agencies, as required
