About the role
LaPrairie Works Inc., a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, provides highway and bridge maintenance, civil construction, slope stabilization, erosion and drainage control, and environmental remediation services across Western Canada. We are proud to be formally recognized with industry and ministerial awards for innovation and environmental stewardship, while managing long-term contracts within both provincial and federal jurisdictions.
We are looking to expand our highway maintenance operations areas and are preparing a response to an RFP announced by the Provincial Government for a highway maintenance contract in Eastern and Central Alberta.
As such, LaPrairie Works is in search for applications to fill the role of Equipment Operator for Alberta – Oyen (CMA 519) - Highway Maintenance Operations.
The selected candidates will be hired should LaPrairie Works be successful in procuring the contract for this area.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Ensure safe work operations and full compliance to operating procedures
-
Receive directions from site foreman regarding day to day operations and tasks
-
Responsible for and/or assists in fueling and filling all the fluids in the equipment to the right level. Quantity of fuel and fluids must be written and reported in the inspection log.

Assists in the maintenance works of the equipment.

Maintain tidiness around site and equipment.
Required Skills:
-
Experience in equipment operations including tractor-trailers, snowplow trucks with sanders, maintenance graders, and/or other highway maintenance / construction equipment.

Experience and ability to perform various highway maintenance activities including highway maintenance labour work, road and bridge maintenance, and other construction activities.

A valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license.
-
Ability to work day and night shifts.
-
Demonstrated initiative with solid HSE fundamentals and a sound work ethic.

Canadian Silica Industries produces API Spec, 20/40, 30/50, 40/70 & 100 mesh frac sand with easy access to the Montney, Duverney, and Cardium Formations, with trans-load facilities conveniently located in Fort Nelson, and Dawson Creek BC. Our mining operation in Arcadia, WI produces washed sand delivered by barge or rail across North America.
