PLUMBER/GAS-FITTER
There is a position available for a Plumber/Gas-fitter at Facilities. All Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, November 14, 2025.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of plumbing, heating, and sprinkler systems in School District facilities. Oversees the work of assigned helpers.
Hours of work: (8) hrs. per day, five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing
Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year
Commencing Salary: $38.13/hr.
Duties:

Repairs, replaces, tests, installs, and maintains plumbing, HVAC, heating, sprinklers, fans, motors, school water systems and other similar equipment in School District facilities by:
- Following work orders assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Responding to emergency telephone calls on plumbing, heating, cooling and water system problems.

Organizes work day under the direction of the Operations Manager by location, priority, and work site availability.

Informs the Supervisor(s) and/or site Administrative Officer(s) of vandalized equipment or property.

Monitors and replenishes plumbing and heating supplies as needed.

Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.

Ensures the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.

At the request of the Operations Manager, makes detailed sketches, estimates materials and labour required for proposed projects.

Performs other job related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications and Attributes:

Inter-provincial Red Seal Certified Plumber or Gasfitter
-
Gasfitter – Class B Certification
-
1 year experience in related trades
-
Class 5 Driver’s licence
-
Acceptable Driver’s abstract
-
Ability to work independently and set priorities
-
WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
-
Other applicable safety training and/or certifications as provided by the District to be completed as needed
-
Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
-
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
