AltaGas - Manager, Digital Business Solutions (Midstream Capital Projects)
AltaGas is seeking a Manager, Digital Business Solutions (Midstream Capital Projects) to lead digital support for greenfield and brownfield construction projects across the Midstream business. In this role, you will partner closely with project stakeholders to ensure effective IT enablement from design through commissioning, while driving operational excellence and maturing modern delivery practices.
In this leadership role, you will oversee digital sustainment, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery for all technology components supporting Midstream capital projects. This includes end-to-end architecture design for facilities, construction-site IT, communications infrastructure for contractors and field teams, integration with EPC partners and automation/SCADA providers, and IT readiness during installation and commissioning
You will:
- Champion AltaGas’ core values, collaborating with project teams, field personnel, and Digital colleagues, bringing a hands-on leadership approach to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
- Act as the primary Digital partner for Midstream Capital Projects, building relationships to deeply understand business drivers, risks, and project requirements and translating them into practical, scalable technology strategies.
- Lead the “run” phase of the digital delivery model, ensuring a stable application and infrastructure environment that supports construction, engineering, commissioning, and operational readiness. Partner with “plan” and “build” teams to ensure end‑to‑end lifecycle alignment.
- Oversee IT enablement across greenfield and brownfield construction projects, including: End‑to‑end architecture design for industrial facilities, Temporary construction networks and connectivity, Site security solutions (CCTV, access control, perimeter systems), Digital readiness for pre‑commissioning and commissioning phases
- Establish structured alignment processes with project leads to ensure clarity around requirements, digital solution options, risks, cost drivers, and timelines.
- Manage demand intake and sustainment prioritization, maintaining a transparent backlog that reflects organizational priorities and ensures the right resources are deployed at the right time.
- Plan and deliver sustainment initiatives, including enhancements, upgrades, lifecycle planning, application rationalization, and technical debt remediation across the digital portfolio supporting capital projects.
- Coordinate with external technical partners—including EPC firms, automation engineers, and SCADA integrators—to ensure proper digital integration during project execution.
- Lead supporting operations, including incident management, troubleshooting, ticket escalations, and ensuring rapid response for emergent issues across digital systems.
- Ensure compliance with corporate digital standards, cybersecurity requirements, policies, and best practices, promoting strong digital governance and operational consistency.
- Optimize AMS/vendor performance, monitoring SLAs, contract adherence, service quality, and ensuring full value realization from outsourcing partnerships.
- Drive innovation by evaluating new technologies, digital solutions, and approaches that could improve project efficiency, safety, communication, or field operations.
- Develop a high‑performing team, promote learning, coach team members, and build a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous growth.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred) with 7+ years leading digital, application, or infrastructure teams.
- 3+ years of supervisory leadership experience.
- Experience enabling IT for greenfield and brownfield capital construction projects.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with EPCs, automation engineers, and SCADA integrators.
- Strong experience with application lifecycle planning, rationalization, and long-term roadmaps.
- Proven success managing outsourcing partners, SLAs, and delivery using Agile/SCRUM/DevOps frameworks.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
