Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Heritage & Quality Officer, the Manager, Recreation, Arts and Life Enrichment will work collaboratively with staff, physicians and members of the leadership team to ensure alignment between corporate and program strategic and operational priorities. As an integral member of the Baycrest Hospital management team, this manager acts as the designated lead for the recreation program under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and is responsible for recruitment/hiring activities, performance management, overseeing culture, arts, and recreation program planning/implementation/program evaluation and, driving innovation activities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide program leadership for the recreation, culture and arts team

Ensure services comply with legislation, accreditation standards and organizational policies Collaborate with the team to envision, design and oversee recreation and life enrichment programs Develop an annual workplan for the department with annual improvement goals and targets Oversee daily operations including assigning staff to lead programs and projects, ensuring coverage through staffing appropriately, and providing operational oversight throughout the portfolio Reviews key performance indicators and identifies opportunities for continuous quality improvement; leads improvement initiatives within the portfolio Propose and promote evidence informed best practices r to most effectively serve the needs of the Baycrest community Identify opportunities for innovative service and/or program enhancement Liaises with internal stakeholders as well as external community to expand holistic program enrichment offerings and service enhancements; build partnerships with organizations, entertainers, schools etc. Liaises with external business, cultural and art-based agencies and academia to build and maintain partnerships Manage budgets Prepare reports and presentations for Senior Leadership Works closely with the Foundation to identify funding opportunities including grant and proposal writing, business cases and annual reports on funded activities

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as, but not limited to Social Sciences, Recreation, Leisure, Gerontology, Kinesiology, or an Arts Discipline with experience integrating Health and Arts Minimum 3 years of experience leading large, inter-professional teams Previous experience in Health Care, particularly a complex health care facility (Hospital and/or Long-Term Care facility) is an asset. Previous proposal / business case writing experience. Experience in the research process: obtaining research grants, budgeting and financial management/tracking, Research Ethics submissions, participant engagement & informed consent processes, and presentations. An understanding of academia, museums, fine arts, granting agencies, health facilities, therapeutic recreation, and professional arts Skills in partnership development and innovative program development Strength in balancing multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneously Ability to foster interdepartmental collaborations Leadership in team environment, affective team building skills

Compensation

Our salary ranges are structured to support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency.

The salary range for this position is $102,072 to $127,590 per year.

Your placement within the target hiring range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant education and experience, as well as considerations such as market conditions and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined using these factors to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
