Description

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Protecting Every Pregnancy - Canada (PEP-C Lab) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary uses implementation science and participatory action research methods to understand the needs of patients, community workers and healthcare providers and transform them into innovative solutions. We envision a future where every pregnant individual, baby and family across Canada is as healthy as possible by avoiding preventable infections. The multi-faceted research program. We are seeking a Research Assistant to become part of this emerging and innovative research program funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian Immunization Research Network and the Calgary Health Foundation.

This position reports to the Principal investigator and will have accountabilities to other senior team members.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Execution of key research activities under limited supervision in consultation with the project coordinator and the principal investigator, including Support data collection, cleaning and analysis for use in scholarly publications Assist with conducting interviews, focus groups and co design sessions Support recruitment activities by sending invitations, coordinating schedules, and maintaining accurate project tracking logs. Synthesizing evidence Preparing presentations, summary tables, slide decks, and other project-related materials Assisting on project documentation (both electronic and physical files) in accordance with Access to Information under the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) standards set by the University of Calgary Supporting Research Ethics Board applications and revisions Assist with manuscript preparation for publication Qualifications / Requirements:

Background in health education or health promotion is desirable Experience with participatory and community engagement research, including working with advisory groups and newcomer communities is very desirable Qualitative research experience is required Ability to translate scientific information for diverse audiences Experience producing visual research outputs (presentations, infographics, social media content) Academic writing skills Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Cultural awareness and ability to work effectively with diverse communities High level of concentration, resourcefulness, and creativity required Ability to work independently and collaboratively Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and NVivo
