Part-time Professor, Defence Systems Engineering Technician/Technology

About the role

Applications are invited for Part-Time Professor for teaching courses within the Defence Systems Engineering Technician/Technology programs, School of Technology, Niagara College. The program will launch in September 2026. Candidates must be available to teach typically between the hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm (with the possibility of classes being scheduled up to 10:30pm). This position requires in-person presence at the Welland Campus to fulfill academic or instructional needs.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Technology, this exciting role requires the successful candidate to provide academic leadership while creating a positive and accessible learning environment for our diverse student population.

Required qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma/Degree in mechanical, mechatronics, electronics, electrical fields or similar field of study
  • Experience with the integration, manufacturing, and repair of uncrewed robotic platforms which may include aerial platforms such as quadcopters and fixed wing remotely piloted aircraft, terrestrial rovers or remotely operated marine vehicles and/or payload systems such as camera, communication, and sensor payloads
  • 3-5 years of recent industry experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of excellent teaching and learning practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Evidence of integrating technology effectively into teaching practices
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred candidates may also possess:

  • Operational experience with remotely piloted aircraft and/or remotely operated marine vehicles
  • Pilot Certificate: Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS); Basic Operations, Advanced Operations, Level 1 Complex Operations
  • Competency in curriculum delivery and evaluation
  • Experience teaching at a post-secondary level
