About the role

G Mining Services is a multidisciplinary company offering professional services in the mining industry, for underground and open pit mining projects, in precious, base, or industrial metals. G Mining is one of the most important consulting firms in mining engineering in Quebec, and among the major firms renowned for international projects.

The position will be carried out as part of the McIlvenna Bay Project, located in east-central Saskatchewan, Canada, one of the world’s best mining jurisdictions. The McIlvenna Bay Project, with significant and evolving mineral reserves, is intended to become the world’s first carbon-neutral copper mine.

To carry out this large-scale project, G Mining Services is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to perform the duties of:

Electrical and Instrumentation Coordinator – McIlvenna Bay Construction Project

*** Rotating schedule 14/14 at site located in Saskatchewan ***

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent, the Electrical and Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems, and control of the new mining complex. The candidate will ensure technical compliance, safe operations and completion of deliverables as per construction schedule. More specifically, the Coordinator will be called upon to:

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise electrical installation and instrumentation work, ensuring compliance with applicable drawings, specifications and technical standards.
  • Work with subcontractors, internal teams and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical, control and communication systems.
  • Monitor quality of work, including cable pulling and connecting, installation of power equipment, field instruments and control panels.
  • Develop, review and implement test procedures (pre-functional, power-up, calibration, control loops, etc.) according to established commissioning sequences.
  • Actively participate in the integration, troubleshooting and commissioning of control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA interfaces) in collaboration with automation.
  • Strictly follow lockout procedures (LOTOTO) and safety precautions when working on energized equipment or circuits.
  • Document tracking: test logs, progress reports, as-built drawings update, and technical records compile for handover to the client.
  • Coach, train and support electricians, instrumentation technicians and other team members on good work practices and project requirements.
  • Participate in site meetings, identify technical issues and propose practical and safe solutions to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, ISA, etc.) as well as internal G Mining procedures.

Requirements

  • DEP or DEC in electrical, instrumentation, automation or related technical field;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience at an industrial or mining site, particularly supervising work in the construction or commissioning phase;
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical drawings, P&IDs, control diagrams, and applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, ISA, NFPA 70E, etc.);
  • Practical experience in equipment testing (isolation tests, loop checks, engine starts), instrument calibration and control system integration (PLC, DCS);
  • Good understanding of potentially explosive atmosphere environments (classified areas) and associated standards (ATEX, IECEx);
  • Familiar with MS Office suite, planning software (Primavera) and document management platforms (M-Files, Bluebeam or equivalent).

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both with technical teams and project stakeholders.
  • Highly adaptable to changing priorities, tight deadlines and sometimes unpredictable conditions.
  • Thoroughness, autonomy and analytical ability to solve technical and operational problems in the field.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, quality of performance and adherence to applicable standards.

Additional information

  • Start Date: October 2025.
  • Term: Until April 2026, with the possibility of extension and/or assignment on other G Mining projects.
  • Location: McIlvenna Bay site, Saskatchewan.
  • Schedule: fly-in fly-out 14/14 rotations (14 working days followed by 14 days off), 10 hours of work per day.
  • Logistics: Air transportation from the airport closest to home, buses, accommodation and meals provided. Training room available on site.
