We’re Hiring!

We are currently looking to fill a 16-month contract position for a ESG Manager in our Regulatory Affairs and ESG****Department at our Leamington, ON facility.

What You'll Do:

1**.General Duties**

  • Monitor and interpret emerging and existing sustainability, environmental, and social responsibility regulations and trends to ensure organizational compliance and proactivity, in collaboration with the Director, Compliance
  • Engage with stakeholders (e.g., investors, employees, customers, communities) to communicate the organization’s sustainability efforts, in partnership with Executive Management and Marketing
  • Support the development of a long-term plan to align Nature Fresh’s supplier base with ESG requirements
  • Represent Nature Fresh in external associations and working groups, sharing knowledge with internal partners to enhance organizational practices
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting as required, under the guidance of senior management
  • Communicate governance framework with full transparency to key stakeholders and support Nature Fresh’s risk management and assurance processes

2**.ES (Environment/Social Responsibility) Assessment & Needs Analysis**

  • Conduct ES assessments to identify regulatory gaps, risks, opportunities, and key performance indicators, reporting findings to senior management
  • Support efforts to assess third-party grower social compliance levels in line with customer requirements, coordinating with the Compliance team
  • Benchmark ES performance against industry competitors through ongoing research, providing actionable insights to senior management

3**. ESG Related Project Management & Operations**

  • Implement and maintain the organization’s Corporate Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Sustainability Policy, as guided by Senior Management, to foster a culture of sustainability across operations, supply chain, human resources, and finance
  • Communicate the ROI of ES initiatives, highlighting both financial and non-financial benefits, in collaboration with relevant departments
  • Conduct recurring reviews with key team members to evaluate compliance requirements and develop corrective actions for identified deficiencies
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) collaboratively with departmental personnel for high-level reporting to Senior Management
  • Provide support to relevant boards and committees to ensure alignment with organizational governance requirements and strategic priorities
  • Assist in the implementation and creation of policies related to organizational governance, risk and compliance to build a culture of accountability
  1. Risk & Regulatory
  • Organize and facilitate third-party audits to maintain compliance with relevant authorities and entities, with support from the Compliance team
  • Maintain and update all ESG documentation, ensuring accessibility and effective communication with relevant departments
  • Consolidate environmental obligations (e.g., Extended Producer Responsibility, Environmental Compliance Approvals) into a centralized repository
  • Maintain a verification schedule and data assurance process to support timely and accurate regulatory or voluntary reporting, renewals, and certifications
  • Lead the collection, management, and reporting of company-wide ESG performance data, ensuring compliance with regulatory and voluntary standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD), with support from the Compliance team

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agricultural Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A relevant certification (e.g., Sustainability Excellence Associate, LEED, or ESG-related certification) is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability, environmental compliance, social responsibility, or regulatory affairs, preferably in the agriculture or food production industry. Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or project management is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply environmental and social responsibility regulations, industry standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD), and customer requirements, with the capability to communicate these to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing skills for developing reports, policies, and documentation, combined with professional communication skills (e.g., active listening, collaboration) to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively
  • Proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis to support ES performance reporting and KPI development. Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required
  • Ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders, including employees, growers, customers, regulators, and industry associations, in alignment with organizational goals
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail. Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) is an asset
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively in a team environment to drive sustainability initiatives
  • Ability to embrace and adapt to rapid organizational growth, innovation, and development in a dynamic agricultural environment
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, verification schedules, and compliance processes efficiently
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for travel to company sites. Valid passport and willingness to travel across the US/Canada border as needed
  • Proficiency in English is required. Spanish language skills are a valued asset for engaging with diverse stakeholders, particularly growers and suppliers
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas independently and collaboratively, adapting solutions to meet sustainability and social responsibility objectives effectively

What To Expect:

  • Office, greenhouse, distribution centre, and warehouse settings with moderate physical activity (walking, standing); greenhouses may be hot, humid, with pests; warehouses vary from cooler to temperature-controlled
  • Occasional US/Canada travel to support audits, stakeholder engagement, and other circumstances as deemed necessary, requiring a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and passport
  • Full-time (40–44 hours/week, Monday–Friday), with intermittent evenings/weekends to support audits, events, and special circumstances as deemed necessary
  • Moderate activity during site visits, requiring safety protocol adherence in production areas
  • Dynamic, collaborative environment focused on marketing, innovative strategies, agriculture, and sustainability
