Salary Range: $71,846.00 – $115,129.00 per annum. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

WHAT IT TAKES
The Opticianry Program at Douglas College invites applications for a regular probationary instructor. This two-year Diploma Program provides students with the experience and skills needed to become a licensed Optician. You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner‐centered instruction.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
-
a current License as an Optician/Contact Lens Fitter in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia with certification in Automated Refraction;
-
experience teaching in clinical, classroom and/or laboratory settings in an Opticianry related program or equivalent;
-
at least five years of broad and current clinical experience that includes a sound foundation in Opticianry;
-
curriculum development/maintenance experience/expertise;
-
effective interpersonal skills, initiative and creativity;
-
self-directedness, strong work ethic and excellent writing ability;
-
ability to collaborate and contribute effectively to team activities; and
-
satisfactory current references.
Additional Information
The Opticianry Program is seeking a regular probationary instructor beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. The primary place of work will be the Coquitlam campus.
Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.
