Cost and Financial Analyst
About the role
Position Summary:
Reporting into the Controller, the Cost and Financial Analyst will work closely with operations, supply chain and finance to analyze the production variances, support standard cost updates, and ensure alignment with operational goals. This individual must be an independent thinker who can proactively identify opportunities and support the plant management team with timely reports, data and their ideas for improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly costing, production and inventory reports (includes yields, utility usage, and labour reports) in accordance with Plant Management, company policy and GAAP;
- Supports the plant management in the analysis of variances between actual costs occurring at the plant and standard costs. Reports and reviews variances related to finished goods, raw material, WIP and PPV’s, and reviews/reports on the impact of labor/yield/material/purchase variances on the plant’s financial performance;
- Responsible to assist plant management on departmental cost/productivity/product and process initiatives ensuring ongoing analysis and achievement of improvement opportunities;
- Ensures accurate, complete reporting of month end physical counts. Reconciles raw/wip/finished goods inventory levels, performs analysis of inventory, production and sales levels, and reports on significant cost/volume changes;
- Prepares monthly operations summary and works with controller on monthly reporting package. Works on adhoc projects as assigned, including internal controls, external audits;
- Month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, compile financials reporting;
- Maintains approved corporate standard internal reporting requirements in the plant to ensure accurate information/clarity of the plant’s performance.
Requirements:
- A diploma/degree in accounting or finance;
- 2 years of cost accountant experience within an integrated manufacturing environment;
- Pursuing an accounting designation (CPA);
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and Advanced knowledge with Excel (must be strong with Pivot Tables and file linking);
- Knowledge of financial/operational ERP System (experience with AS400 considered an asset).
Hiring Range: CAD $56,523 - $75,458
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 7% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
