What will you be doing!
Reading and interpreting building plans, electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring installations. Cutting, threading, bending, assembling and installing conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings. Pulling wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors. Laying out, assembling, installing, repairing, maintaining, connecting and testing electrical fixtures, control equipment, and wiring for fire alarm, communication, light, heat and power systems. Positioning, installing and maintaining distribution and control equipment such as circuit breaker panel boards, fuse enclosures, switch boxes, and pullboxes. Installing data cabling and fibre optic systems. Testing electrical circuits to ensure integrity and safety. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For
Education Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have completed apprenticeship training or equivalent and be qualified as a Construction & Maintenance Electrician with a 309A or HC License/Interprovincial Red Seal Ticket. Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Red Seal Electrician. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of all applicable codes and standards to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints and drawings. Knowledge of Microsoft Office to update and write procedures, create spreadsheets, input data and communicate via email. Conscientious about accuracy. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond with initiative. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization. Ability to use initiative and judgement to organize and maintain the flow of work and accuracy of records. Must be punctual, dependable and safety-minded. Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and use time management. The ability to understand detailed information is essential. Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility. Capability of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.” Working Conditions
We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is part of the IA Machinists 608 union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment. The role may require working outdoors in extreme weather conditions (from +30°C to -40°C).
