About the role

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Corporate division in Quesnel is currently recruiting for a Quality & Technical Research Assistant.

You’ll Do:

  • Provide administrative support to the Quality & Technical Support (Q&TS) team, supporting the broader Quality & TS group
  • Coordinate and communicate with external testing partners to ensure timely delivery of materials and support the development of trial protocols
  • Oversee and/or conduct essential testing of mechanical board properties
  • Prepare basic technical reports and perform routine data analysis
  • Oversee R&D pilot panel production and support panel testing to enable faster project turnarounds
  • Process and organize data in preparation for in-depth statistical analysis
  • Provide occasional mill-site testing support, including travel to mill locations to assist with Quality and Technical Support testing activities
  • After training, support comparative techno-economic assessments of biorefining technologies
  • Regularly prepare and deliver project update presentations for internal stakeholders

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Training will be provided to ensure alignment with internal processes and methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (required)

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $84,500 - $100,000, may vary depending on education and relevant experience.
