About the role

Team Lead Pharmacy Assistant

Location: Ottawa, ON

Alta Vista Animal Hospital located in Ottawa., ON., currently welcoming a full-time Team Lead Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in a very important support role for the entire hospital. In this role you will help our clients and their pets feel welcomed and appreciated!

  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents
  • Filling prescriptions and dispensing medications as directed by a veterinarian
  • Receive client calls regarding refill requests. Review patient records for remaining refills, necessary exam or bloodwork needed, prepare medication labels and fill prescriptions.
  • Perform stocking procedures throughout the hospital
  • Quarterly inventory; date entry
  • Provide training for new team members and assist with training protocols
  • Assist clients with any questions they have regarding prescriptions.
  • Fax prescriptions to outside pharmacies.
  • General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of pharmacy area
  • Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services
  • Previous customer service or front desk experience in hospitality or retail is an asset!
  • No experience with animals, no problem, so long as you love animals!

About us: Alta Vista Animal Hospital

Located in Ottawa, ON., Alta Vista Animal Hospital is a growing multidisciplinary hybrid hospital with Referral, Emergency, and General Practice services all under the same roof. Our board-certified specialists provide care in ophthalmology, cardiology, oncology, and Internal Medicine and have access to on-site MRI and CT diagnostics. With a dedicated staff of 160, including 30 veterinarians, we offer excellence in veterinary medicine because we are passionate about what we do!

We are located at 2616 Bank Street, 20 minutes south of the vibrant downtown Ottawa Market and operate out of a 24,500 square foot facility. We have a large referring veterinarian community of over 300 General practice and Emergency hospitals. A full suite of on-site diagnostic imaging includes a Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice CT, .25T Vet MR MRI, Pulsera Fluoroscopy unit, Philips ultrasound and echocardiogram and two Sound digital radiograph suites.
