About the role
Join our professional and passionate team of Early Childhood Educators at the YMCA Child Development Centre in Aspen Ridge. In this role the hours will be 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday. The YMCA of Saskatoon has been a trusted not-for-profit provider of licensed child care for over 40 years, making a positive difference in the lives of children, families, and our community.
At the Y, you’ll have the opportunity to plan and deliver a child-centered program using our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum. While you help children grow and thrive, we’ll support your career development, learning, and success.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care and support to children and families.
- Build positive relationships with children and maintain open communication with parents about their child’s progress.
- Be an engaged, creative play partner who makes learning fun.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times, following YMCA, provincial, and municipal policies.
- Observe, document, and expand on children’s learning experiences.
- Support children’s needs, including diapering and toileting.
- Clean and sanitize play spaces, toys, and equipment; prepare and serve food following YMCA health and safety protocols.
- Understand the responsibility to report suspected child abuse in accordance with YMCA policy.
- Participate in curriculum training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain all required qualifications and certifications.
What you bring:
- Early Childhood Educator Certificate: Level 1, 2, or 3 (issued by the Ministry of Saskatchewan).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification (or ability to obtain prior to first day).
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with young children.
- Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort (lifting up to 20 kg/44 lbs., bending, stooping, picking up children).
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
- Flexibility with assigned working hours.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering a sense of belonging.
- Minimum age of 18 (per Ministry guidelines).
