About the role
Our client is a successful, reputable, stable, and well-established Canadian company based in Surrey, BC. The company is looking for a new Payroll Administrator who will process a large payroll across Canada. This company has a very caring and values-based culture.
Who- the Company: Our client was established decades ago and has evolved to become one of the largest in their industry in Canada. The company has been growing by leaps and bounds- both organically and via acquisitions. Many of their employees have been with the company for 10 years or more, which speaks volumes about the organization’s values and commitment to their people and their customers. In the last several years, the organization has undertaken major business and digital transformations.
What- the Role: On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Payroll Administrator. This is a contract to start, but there is a permanent role available for which the contractor can be considered. (Also, please note, SWIM is also working on several permanent Payroll positions right now). Reporting into a fantastic Payroll Manager who is friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. Working alongside other Payroll Administrators. Together, the payroll team processes payroll for 3000 employees across the country (almost all the Canadian provinces). Using a sophisticated and very well-configured payroll system that allows for well-automated payroll cycles. Also using plenty of Excel (for payroll analysis and payroll reporting) and an industry-specific software. There is a small commission payroll (paid out quarterly). SWIM will share a detailed job description with interested candidates.
Who- the Candidate: We are looking for candidates with around 2 to 4 years of payroll experience, as well as a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn new payroll skills. Experience processing a payroll of at least 400 employees, and ideally around 1000 employees Experience with both salary and hourly payroll PCP certification is preferred (already certified or actively pursuing) Multi-provincial payroll experience is an asset- the more provinces, the better! That said, experience with BC payroll only is fine, the team can train the new Administrator on payroll for the other provinces. Experience using a sophisticated payroll system such as Workday, Ceridian Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, etc. Proficiency in Excel and ability to use Excel for payroll analysis and payroll reporting. Exposure to US payroll is an asset, but not at all required. If the Administrator is interested in learning US payroll, they can be cross-trained! This company has a few US employees working in 5 US states. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role. Collaborative, self-motivated, friendly, kind, and ethical. How Much: During the contract portion, the direct hourly rate will be in the ballpark of $32 to $40 an hour, depending on level of payroll experience, skills, and qualifications. Once the role is permanent, the base salary will likely be in the range of $55,000 to $70,000, plus benefits, vacation pay, and other perks. Where: HYBRID. The company is headquartered in Surrey. Very close to a SkyTrain station, as well as various bus lines. The Payroll Administrator will work from the beautiful head office 2 days a week, with the option to work from home up to 3 days a week.
