WAGE RATE: $26.020 – $28.046
Reporting to the Manager, Critical Care, and Respiratory Services, the Ward Clerk is responsible to facilitate the flow of patient care efficiently and safely through accurate and timely completion of assigned duties. Patient care is provided with an interdisciplinary focus; the Ward Clerk is required to work with all members of the Health Care Team in a collaborative fashion. The Ward Clerk will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication with tact, diplomacy, empathy and courtesy to patients, families and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Secondary School Diploma with relevant administrative/secretarial experience or post-secondary business/office administration diploma
- Demonstrated computer skills with order entry in Cerner applications
- Recent ward clerk experience with demonstrated competencies in transcription, processing and follow-up of inpatient physician orders
- Experience with the Critical Care Information System
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word – to be tested)
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology (to be tested)
- Typing 30 words per minute (to be tested)
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll entry in Medipay
- Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize workload
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
- Availability to work 12- and 8-hour shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis
- Demonstrated self-directed worker with minimal supervision required
- Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
- Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
