Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
To teach English 1111: University Writing, in the Winter term 2026. Classes will be held Monday/Wednesday 1435-1555 with tutorials replacing some Wednesday classes. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, supervision of three teaching assistants, test preparation and evaluation, and grading the final exam. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program. Previous experience teaching at the university level is required.
Salary Range/Pay Rate
As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Cover Letter is optional. For each part-time academic the Chair will conduct an annual assessment of teaching performance, based on student ratings of instruction and may also include classroom observation, conducted either by the Chair or a representative from the Centre for Learning and Teaching with reasonable advance notice.
All offers of employment as a part-time academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
