Medicine Hat College is welcoming applications for a Research Assistant/transcriptionist for an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) research funded project. This is a contract position from October 15 – March 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal.
A little about the role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and resourceful individual to support an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada research project. The ideal candidate will have experience reading and summarizing scholarly work, as well as transcription experience. Knowledge of statistics is considered an asset. Strong research and problem-solving skills are essential, particularly the ability to use various online platforms to locate information, including tracking down past graduates.
The role requires someone who can accurately collect, record, and organize data, including sourcing relevant scholarly articles aligned with the project’s theme. Clear and timely communication via email is important, as is the ability to work independently with reliable computer and internet access (if working remotely). The candidate will also collaborate at times directly with the principal researcher to support information gathering.
This position may be performed either in-person or remotely, depending on the successful candidate.

Terms of Employment
Appointment Term: October 15, 2025- March 31, 2026
Wage Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, up to 30 hours per week.
