About the role

Overview

Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, Events Chef, Sous Chefs and Head Baker this position will assist our baking department and prepare a variety of breads, sourdoughs, laminated doughs and other sweet goods. The successful candidate’s skills should be matched by their creativity to develop new and tasty recipes that incorporate items from our one acre garden. You will work alongside the team in creating new and exciting items for our guests. Additionally, may be required to assist in our Bakery as both a baker and front facing role.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as breads, doughs, and laminated pastry while following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Assist in creating new and exciting pastry and bread to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers alongside the Head Baker.
  • Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Operate a POS system for café style service
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Guide and motivate other pastry team members; assist with Head Baker to work more efficiently.
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel if necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of pastry/baking experience.
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts, Pastry-Making, Baking or relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker or comparable role.
  • Proven experience working with ingredient limitations (e.g. gluten-free, etc.).
  • Food handler’s certificate preferred.

  • Dependable: Must be punctual, reliable, energetic individuals who can work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organization: Must be able to easily access and store many types of information on a daily basis.
  • Multitasking: Must be able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while maintaining sanitary and safe environment.
  • Adaptability: Able to accept changing conditions and new information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical: Must be able to use kitchen equipment, occasionally lift or move objects over 50LBS.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $19.00-$21.00
  • Included in our controlled tip system.
