About The Position Reporting to the Centre Director, the Assistant Director is an integral member of the Kids & Company team responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the centre.

This role supports the delivery of high-quality childcare through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission: to provide quality primary and backup childcare services that help families and corporations achieve a healthy work/life balance.

Please note: We currently looking to fill a mat leave contract to July 2027!

Responsibilities

  • Support children’s emotional, physical, and behavioral well-being, while helping develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills
  • Implement an Emergent Curriculum that encourages curiosity and learning through play
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and record-keeping
  • Conduct daily attendance, health, and safety checks
  • Collaborate with professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as needed
  • Support children through transitions in and out of classrooms
  • Ensure all classroom ratios and standards are met as outlined in Nova Scotia licensing regulations
  • Participate in and help lead staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops
  • Assist the Centre Director with child and staff files, ministry requirements, and operational needs

What You Need

  • Valid Nova Scotia ECE License
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 45 lbs
