About The Position Reporting to the Centre Director, the Assistant Director is an integral member of the Kids & Company team responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the centre.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality childcare through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission: to provide quality primary and backup childcare services that help families and corporations achieve a healthy work/life balance.
Please note: We currently looking to fill a mat leave contract to July 2027!
Responsibilities
- Support children’s emotional, physical, and behavioral well-being, while helping develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills
- Implement an Emergent Curriculum that encourages curiosity and learning through play
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and record-keeping
- Conduct daily attendance, health, and safety checks
- Collaborate with professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as needed
- Support children through transitions in and out of classrooms
- Ensure all classroom ratios and standards are met as outlined in Nova Scotia licensing regulations
- Participate in and help lead staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops
- Assist the Centre Director with child and staff files, ministry requirements, and operational needs
What You Need
- Valid Nova Scotia ECE License
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 45 lbs
