Under the supervision of the Gas Planning/Stations/GIS Section Head, is responsible for leading the Station Design team,
procurement of specialized equipment/fittings, project management for all gas facility work and is Engineer of Record for gas facility
assets. This position will support operations staff in the areas of emergency response, process control and optimization, research
and development as well as economic feasibility analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, train and develop technical staff to deliver work within the Gas Station Design portfolio.
- Prepare detailed designs and schematics for new facilities and refurbishments utilizing fluid mechanics, thermodynamics,
strength of materials, applied mechanics, noise and vibration analysis.
- Ensure all designs are in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, standards and procedures with respect to capacity,
measurement, pressure control/protection and odourization.
- Develops five-year project schedule and expenditure forecast based on inputs from Gas Integrity, Gas Planning and Energy
Services & Sales.
- Develops Capital Investment Justifications and cost estimates that meet the criteria for department and corporate policy.
Manages the financial tracking of projects.
- Supports development of service contracts and purchase agreements with scope definition, detailing pay items, technical
specifications preparation, and bid evaluation.
- Applies project management principles for work organization and efficiency including leading progress meetings, project
tracking and change management.
- Evaluates the natural gas distribution system and large customer delivery services utilizing process control tools and
techniques and information from the SCADA system.
- Assists in the preparation of gas standards as required.
- Provides operation support and technical assistance to operations and maintenance personnel.
- Maintain and improve the current facilities as-builts and emergency procedures.
- Prepare procedures in support of construction and commissioning efforts for Natural Gas facilities.
- Prepare material specifications, procure and track non-stock equipment and appurtenances in support of section initiatives.
- Conduct Natural Gas Facility site assessments and prepare evaluation reports for engineering studies and detailed designs.
- Provide technical support and peer review to facility designers, field staff and contractors regarding Natural Gas Facilities.
- Develop work packages and direct consultants and contract personnel to manage workloads and required schedules.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing and a minimum of seven years of
project engineering experience with industrial or natural gas pressurized pipe systems.

- Demonstrated experience with multi-discipline design and construction coordination (civil, mechanical, electrical).
- Demonstrated experience supervising and leading a technical team.
- Demonstrated project management experience in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with consultants, suppliers and subcontractors, and project coordination.
- Must be enthusiastic and display initiative to champion and resolve adverse technical problems.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Solidworks/Inventor 3D CAD and SAP would be an asset.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
