The Director, Finance & Fund Governance is a senior role responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis, oversight and governance of the mutual funds, and strategic project leadership. This role combines the responsibilities of financial oversight for the company and fund governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving automation and AI initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The role reports to the Chief Financial and Strategic Officer and works in close partnership with business partners on reporting, analysis, oversight, and continuously looking for opportunities for process optimization.

What you’ll accomplish with us
As a Director, Finance and Fund Governance, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports.
- Oversight and review of monthly journal entries and results.
- Prepare dashboards, departmental expense reports, and variance analyses.
- Oversee the forecasting and annual profit planning process, including revenue and expense forecasts.
- Recommend financial models and strategic benchmarks for forecasting.
- Coordinate departmental budget reviews and profit plan presentations.
- Fund Governance
- Oversee the preparation of fund financial statements, continuous disclosure documents and other fund documents.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, NI 81-106, and NI 81-102.
- Oversee PFIC reporting, distribution and tax process, and specialty fund disclosures.
- Strategic Projects & Automation
- Lead financial analysis for new products, compensation programs, and efficiency initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional fund launch initiatives, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, regulatory filings, operational readiness, and post-launch reporting.
- Design complex financial models and profitability metrics.
- Drive digitization and AI-assisted automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Act as a strategic partner to business leaders by delivering actionable financial insights and supporting ad hoc analysis and modeling for decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on initiatives related to product development, fund events, and operational readiness.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Inspire and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous learning.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to break silos and enhance enterprise-wide financial acumen.
- Support career development and succession planning to build a resilient and future-ready finance function.
What could accelerate your success in this role
We’re looking for someone with the following expertise:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in asset management
- 2-3 years of management experience
- University degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA, CA, or MBA designation required.
- Strong financial analysis skills with a solid foundation in performance measurement and modeling.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience working with large data sets, financial systems, and databases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint); experience with BI tools is an asset.
- Experience with AI and automation tools in financial operations is a plus.
- High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
