About the role

YW Calgary is looking to add an Outreach Case Manager to our team! As an Outreach Case Manager with YW Calgary, you will be a crucial part of a transformative initiative that supports families in breaking the cycle of violence. Your role will make a significant impact on the lives of those you serve and will also strengthen YW Calgary’s influence and leadership in the community. The Outreach Case Managers' purpose is to provide support, referrals and advocacy to women living in Calgary and surrounding areas who may be experiencing domestic abuse.

This position is an 9-month contract working Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, 37.5 hours per week. This role will require some flexibility in schedule to best serve clients and program requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assess risk and develop safety plans with clients experiencing imminent danger related to domestic violence
  • Support clients in identifying safe options and taking steps to ensure immediate safety
  • Provide crisis intervention and timely support during high‑stress or emergency situations
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and priorities
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized case plans in partnership with clients
  • Support clients in setting goals and creating action plans that promote stability, autonomy, and independence
  • Connect clients to appropriate resources and long‑term supports, including housing, counseling, legal supports, and community programs
  • Provide community‑based advocacy and support, including:
    • Court accompaniment and system navigation
    • Referrals for basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter
    • Assistance accessing social services and community resources
  • Work collaboratively with Crisis Shelters and other community agencies to ensure coordinated and responsive care
  • Apply trauma‑sensitive and harm‑reduction principles in all interactions
  • Demonstrate empathy, cultural humility, and respect when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
  • Develop creative, practical, and client‑centered solutions to complex situations
  • Make informed, ethical, and timely decisions in the best interest of clients
  • Maintain personal composure and effectiveness under pressure while responding to crisis situations
  • Teach and model self‑regulation and coping strategies to support client wellbeing
  • Understand and respond to the complexities and dynamics of domestic violence
  • Provide appropriate interventions and referrals for individuals impacted by violence
  • Manage multiple cases efficiently within fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environments
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines both on‑site and in the community
  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely verbal and written communication
  • Accurately document client interactions, assessments, and case notes in relevant databases
  • Adhere to ethical standards, professional boundaries, and organizational policies in all aspects of service delivery

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment
  • Bachelor's degree of Social Work or equivalent in human services field
  • Professional Social Worker registration is a strong asset
  • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in the field of family violence, outreach or case management
  • Requires a class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
  • ASSIST and First Aid
  • NVCI, Brain Story, and CPR certifications required within 3 months of employment

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Knowledge of trauma informed approaches and of the Child Welfare System
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant community resources, referral processes, legislation and regulations
  • Strong understanding of brain development and healthy mental function
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite, able to learn additional software quickly
