Care-A-Van Community Outreach Volunteer

About the role

Looking for a fun, rewarding opportunity where you can share your time with others and make a difference? Join our Care-A-Van family! Catholic Social Services is looking for volunteers to support our Care-A-Van Program by assisting with mobile outreach services that provide food, essential supplies, and compassionate support to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities:

  • Support face to face engagement with individuals experiencing homelessness by providing a welcoming, respectful, and non-judgmental presence.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory Care-A-Van volunteer training sessions
  • Support scheduled Care-A-Van outreach activities by accompanying staff in the van following staff guidance at all times.
  • Assist staff by handing out food, water, hygiene items, and seasonal supplies.
  • Use a relationship based and trauma informed approach when interacting with community members, recognizing diverse lived experiences and personal boundaries.
  • Help organize, receive, sort, and restock donations, including food, clothing, hygiene items, and seasonal supplies

Schedule:
Flexible, weekdays, 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.

Reference letters are available upon request after 25 hours of service.
