Team members contribute to a food program that celebrates sustainability, creativity, and connection to place. Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. In this role, the Line Cook prepares and cooks menu items according to Avling’s recipes and standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely execution during service. Daily responsibilities include station setup and breakdown, ingredient prep, proper food handling, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The Line Cook collaborates closely with the kitchen team, supports inventory and stock rotation, and follows health and safety guidelines, including safe equipment operation and adherence to food safety regulations. This role also contributes to seasonal menu development and supports Avling’s commitment to sustainable and regenerative food practices. Qualifications Experience in line cooking or similar kitchen roles, with strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating. Knowledge of kitchen operations, including station management, prep workflows, and service pacing. Familiarity with food safety standards, sanitation practices, and safe handling and storage of ingredients. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, including clear communication with chefs and colleagues. Interest in sustainable, locally sourced ingredients and a willingness to learn about regenerative food systems. Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and reliability for scheduled shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed. Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting; formal culinary training or education is an asset but not required.
