Role Description

The Product Manager, Savings, is part of the Everyday Banking Products team within Canadian Personal Banking, reporting to the Senior Manager, Savings Product Management. This role is responsible for managing and evolving BMO’s Savings portfolio, ensuring it remains competitive, profitable, and aligned with BMO’s overall strategy, values, and commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

The Product Manager develops and implements product strategies to drive customer acquisition and balance growth, optimize profitability, and enhance the customer experience. This includes supporting the development of innovative products and offers, optimizing pricing strategies, and driving digital enhancements that improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to build business cases, conduct pricing and performance analysis, and deliver actionable insights that influence strategic decisions.

The Product Manager has profit & loss (P&L) accountability for the Savings portfolio and is responsible for managing associated product and operational risks. Success in this role depends on the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal partners, including Finance, Compliance, Customer and Product Analytics, Modelling and Artificial Intelligence, Customer Optimization, Digital, T&O, Marketing, and Operations and Salesforce Effectiveness. Over the next few years, this role will have a significant impact on BMO’s growth by leading end-to-end product and offer development, reinforcing our customer-first approach while driving sustainable business results.

Key Accountabilities

Product Development & Enhancements

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the Savings portfolio, ensuring alignment with BMO’s strategic objectives.
  • Co-lead the design and delivery of new savings products and offers from ideation through launch, working closely with the Senior Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and digital experiences to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution of initiatives.

Pricing & Performance Analytics

  • Manage all aspects of pricing for the Savings portfolio, including interest rates and product-related service charges and fees, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Conduct detailed pricing analysis and develop recommendations to optimize revenue and customer value.
  • Build robust business cases for pricing changes and new initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
  • Leverage insights from reporting and forecasting to continuously adjust and enhance pricing strategies.

P&L Management

  • Maintain accountability for the Savings portfolio’s P&L, ensuring revenue and expense targets are met.
  • Explain financial results, forecast future performance, and recommend actions to improve profitability.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage product and operational risks associated with the Savings portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support the evolution of policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risk exposure.

Reporting & Insights

  • Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Savings portfolio.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and create executive-ready presentations to support strategic decisions.

Partnership & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure alignment on priorities and timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted collaborator, supporting cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

  • 3+ years of experience in retail product management, preferably in the financial service industry.
  • Strong analytical background with experience in business casing, pricing analysis, and performance tracking.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel including advanced functions, macros, pivot tables, and modeling; experience with Power BI or SQL is an asset.
  • Strong experience in product design, campaign management, project management & delivery, P&L and risk management.

Skills

  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Hands-on experience with project management and change management in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling executive-level decks.
  • Knowledge of digital product development and customer experience design is an asset.

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
