Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
What you'll do
The Environment Performance team is responsible for analyzing data and reporting information related to the environmental
risk associated with BC Hydro activities. Our team monitors and reports on environmental performance, supports the
development and delivery of environmental training, performs investigations, and initiates corrective and preventative action
plans. This position will also be responsible for supporting business and strategic services, as required. These activities
involve collaborating across BC Hydro to improve practices with the goal of minimizing environmental impacts.
The Senior Environment Coordinator will lead and support a range of projects and programs to improve environmental risk
management and learning at BC Hydro.
As a member of the Environment Performance team, duties include but are not limited to:

Analyze and report on environmental risk and incidents associated with BC Hydro work activities.

Lead environmental programs and processes such as the environmental compliance assurance program, incident
investigation guidelines, and risk reviews.
- Collaborate with environmental subject matter experts to analyze data and apply solid business understanding to provide
insights to senior leadership about:
-
current and emerging environmental performance and risk.
-
opportunities for improvements to environmental risk management and compliance assurance processes.
-
recommended actions to mitigate environmental risk.
-
Prepare and present reports regarding issues, results, trends, and recommendations on a wide variety of environmental
issues and metrics to internal BC Hydro staff audiences, senior leaders, the Board, industry associations, government
agencies.

Continue to improve the environmental compliance assurance program including:
-
conducting environmental compliance evaluations, supporting compliance investigations.
-
facilitating resolution to environmental risks by ensuring timeliness of identifying and completing corrective actions.
-
promoting and enabling process adherence to Environmental Best Practice to improve the use of compliance practices.
-
analyzing and reporting on monthly performance metrics.
-
Ensure environment requirements are met in local and organization wide initiatives and systems e.g. SAP incident
management system, geospatial systems, records management.
- As a work lead, assigns work to qualified staff, monitors work progress and takes courses of action necessary to manage
and expedite the successful accomplishment of all assigned work.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in field of environmental sciences or natural resource management, with experience or training in risk
management, performance reporting and analysis;
OR
- A Bachelor's degree in a field related to business, performance measurement and risk management ideally in combination
with further education or experience in field of environmental sciences or risk management.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressively increasing related experience in field of environmental sciences or risk
management.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Must have demonstrated experience and knowledge (with a proven track record) of:
-
the ability to consistently set, drive, and meet deadlines.
-
applying sound analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
-
the ability to work in the field doing on-site research and investigation.
-
high quality presentations and communications.
-
working knowledge of BC Hydro operations and environmental risks or equivalent.
-
mastery of SAP IMS, SAP Analysis for Office, MS Office applications such as advanced MS Excel functions (pivot tables,
vlookups).
-
In addition, any of the following will be considered assets:
-
training or experience in root cause analysis, structured decision making, precision Q&A, project management, process
mapping.
- ability to learn new information technology systems (GIS, records management software/systems, Power BI, learning
management systems etc.).
- The successful candidate will ideally have a general knowledge of and experience with the electrical utility industry,
environmental regulatory agencies, environmental acts and regulations, working knowledge of environmental (pollution
prevention, hazardous waste) and natural resource (fisheries, wildlife, forestry, land use planning) disciplines.
