We are seeking a strategic and results-driven National Health & Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our national health and safety program across our Canadian operations. This role will oversee H&S for multiple wholesale HVAC/R branches and three large-scale distribution centres, ensuring consistent standards, regulatory compliance, and a strong culture of safety.
As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will shape safety strategy, manage the national H&S budget, influence change across the organization, and align safety initiatives with broader business objectives.
What you will accomplish with us:
Strategic Leadership & Planning

Design and execute a national health & safety strategy aligned with organizational goals, operational realities, and compliance requirements.

Serve as the senior safety advisor to Executive Steering Committee, providing insights, risk analysis, and performance reporting.

Drive a proactive safety culture, embedding accountability and continuous improvement at all levels of the organization.
Budget & Resource Management

Develop and manage the annual health & safety budget, including training, equipment, audits, and certifications.

Identify opportunities for cost-effective risk mitigation, investment in safety innovation, and operational efficiency.
Compliance & Governance
-
Ensure full compliance with applicable federal, provincial, and local health and safety legislation across Canada.

Lead internal audits and inspections; and coordinate responses to regulatory visits and incident investigations.

Maintain and update the corporate safety management programs, policies, and procedures to ensure national consistency.
Training, Engagement & Communication

Oversee the design and delivery of safety training programs, certifications, and onboarding for all employees.

Partner with regional managers to build safety leadership capabilities across the network.

Champion transparent safety communications and reporting.
Incident & Risk Management
-
Lead or oversee investigations of workplace incidents, ensuring proper root cause analysis and corrective action.

Monitor and report on leading and lagging safety indicators, using data to inform strategic decisions.
Cross-Border Expertise (Asset)
- Provide support or consultation on U.S. OSHA requirements where applicable, especially for operations with U.S. exposure or integration.
What You Bring to Our Team:
Education & Credentials:
-
Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
Experience:
-
8+ years of progressive experience in health & safety roles, including 3+ years in a national or multi-site leadership capacity.

Experience in warehousing, logistics, or wholesale environments; HVAC/R industry knowledge is an asset.

Demonstrated experience in budget management and strategic planning.
Skills & Competencies:

Deep understanding of Canadian occupational health & safety regulations.

Working knowledge of U.S. OSHA is an asset.

Strong leadership, influencing, and change management capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Valid driver’s license

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.

Bilingualism (French / English) - Need to interact on a regular basis with our internal and/or external Master Group collaborators across the country. After evaluation, it has been determined that no other solution can meet these professional obligations.
Travel Requirement:
- Willingness to travel nationally 30 to 40% of the time to support locations and distribution centres
