What is the opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Industry Impact and Development, the Program Manager will be responsible for providing a consultative service to Energy Safety Canada clients. This position will work to help Energy Safety Canada member companies in the field to improve their safety programs, contributing to Energy Safety Canada’s overall vision of reducing work-related injuries or incidents in the energy industry.

What will you do:

  • Responsible for leading on-site safety consultations and initiatives to assist clients in enhancing their safety programs and minimizing worker illness and injuries.
  • Coordinate and present at regional health and safety workshops and attend industry and Energy Safety Canada events to help promote Energy Safety Canada’s services.
  • Analyze provincial WCB claim and Energy Safety Canada statistics to identify and select member companies requiring assistance in identifying illness and injury causation and provide onsite visits.
  • Stay abreast of new safety initiatives and legislation to ensure accurate evaluations and recommendations on health and safety management systems, as well as promote Certificate of Recognition (COR) and Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR).
  • Act as the technical advisor for working groups and committees – providing subject matter expertise and guidance as necessary.
  • Promote Energy Safety Canada as a strong industry leader in safety culture by following safety practices & procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

What you need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Working towards or have completed a recognized safety designation (CRSP) or OH&S certificate
  • Certification as a safety auditor is considered a strong asset
  • 5 + years’ experience in Health, Safety, and Training or Auditing is required
  • Experience with the development of safety management and auditing programs
  • Operational experience working in oil and gas, or related setting is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas safety aspects, key industry issues and associated legislative/ regulations including return to work programs
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong facilitation and consensus building skills – demonstrates diplomacy and tact
  • Proven coaching and mentorship skills
  • Good knowledge of audit protocols and techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety statistics and analysis and able to translate into plain language
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and consensus building skills – demonstrates diplomacy and tact
  • Comfortable and confident with public speaking and delivering presentations
