Job Description Position: Digital Optical Integration Intern
Duration: 4 to 8 Months

Education Recommendations: Student in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
Join the Optical Systems Group (OSG) as a Digital Optical Integration Intern and become part of a cross-functional team driving innovation in high-speed optical networking. In a dynamic hybrid work environment that promotes flexibility and collaboration, you’ll contribute to the development of our 800G-ZR coherent pluggables by working on calibration algorithms that optimize system-level performance. This hands-on role involves engaging with early-stage prototypes of photonic integrated circuits (PICs), analog ASICs, and control systems, supporting both short-term advancements and long-term enabling technologies. How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to integrate DSP and optical technologies for innovative 800G coherent pluggable modules.
- Develop and automate calibration setups and algorithms to optimize the performance of high-speed optical systems.
- Build and maintain lab setups for precise calibration and performance characterization of optical integration technologies.
- Work hands-on with prototypes of photonic integrated circuits (PICs), analog ASICs, and associated control systems.
- Participate in technical discussions to influence both short- and long-term technology development strategies.
Key Skills And Experience You are a great fit if you have:
- Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems, photonic integrated components, and electronic (integrated) circuits.
- Knowledge of signal analysis and processing.
- Hands-on experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment.
- Programming experience in MATLAB and Python.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Prior work experience in optical communications.
