Are you a customer-driven professional with a passion for Accounting, Reconciliations, Financial Services and leadership? The City of Owen Sound is hiring a Supervisor, Financial Services, to support the City’s Manager of Revenue/Deputy Treasurer.
What You’ll Do
- Provide leadership and professional accounting oversight for the City’s financial operations
- Supervise accounting staff
- Lead the City’s annual financial audit process
- Oversee all balance sheet reconciliations
- Direct corporate budgeting support
- Manage the financial components of all major grants
- Oversee Tangible Capital Asset (TCA) reporting for PSAB purposes, and ensure compliance with PSAB, CRA, the Municipal Act, and internal controls.
- Exercise independent professional judgment, implement treatments and process improvements, and provide authoritative financial guidance with minimal supervision.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience:
- CPA Designation (CPA student considered)
- Post Secondary Degree in accounting, finance or related fields
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced financial analysis, reconciliation, and audit preparation
- Strong understanding of internal controls and risk mitigation
- Ability to interpret legislation, standards, funding agreements, and policies
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills
- Ability to lead and motivate unionized staff in a respectful, compliant, and effective manner
Other Requirements:
- Make decisions and lead work in alignment with the City’s Vision 2050 strategic priorities and to consistently model and reinforce the City’s corporate values of Caring, Integrity, Sustainability, and Creativity
- Criminal record check.
- Internal candidates must have a satisfactory attendance and performance record.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: $80,334 – $97,970 annually
- Benefits: Full benefits and OMERS defined benefit pension plan
