The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders, promotes appropriate and effective policing, and supports community and public safety services throughout Saskatchewan.
The Ministry is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan’s correctional system and facilities, protection of people, natural resources and infrastructure within the province of Saskatchewan. The Ministry’s goal is to create and maintain safe and secure communities in Saskatchewan. Public safety is of the utmost importance, and the Ministry is committed to providing targeted prevention, intervention, and suppression initiatives. The Ministry strives to collaborate and work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure community safety.
This position resides within the Corporate Services Division and will be reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Public Reporting within the Central Services Branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entry of day-to-day accounts receivable and payable transactions. They will also be responsible for processing direct deposit and supplier maintenance requests. This position is fast-paced and operates on a one-team approach. It requires the ability to organize and prioritize the workload daily. The successful candidate will also contribute to the maintenance of internal operating procedures as required.
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of the accounts payable and receivable system in MIDAS and the related programs; knowledge related to accounting, administrative procedures and policies, general ledger systems and computer applications, specifically Word and advanced Excel skills.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a diploma in accounting or a combination of education and related experience.
