About the role

Learn how to be the best. Counselor in Training/Junior Counselor is a position for those who are interested in becoming a future counselor. They are responsible for assisting a counselor with their campers. This position also involves training in counseling, animating activities, and planning Theme Days.

Responsibilities

  • The J.C. may be assigned to a different cabin in the three camp sessions in order to experience different age groups.

  • Lives in the cabin with the campers as well as assists during meals and other times of the day as well as all of the daily activities (wake-up, bell time, meal times, activities, free play, evening program)

  • Present and actively engaged in all workshops.

  • Complete duties in a timely manner and respect all deadlines:

  • Journals

  • Camp Evaluations

  • JC self-evaluations

  • Lesson plans

  • Evening program performances

  • Being punctual and respecting the schedule is crucial for the success of our camp program which includes but is not limited to:

  • Free play duties

  • Any meetings/workshops

  • The Bell

  • Curfew

  • Night duty

  • Activities

  • The J.C. may be assigned to an activity during the course of a session.

  • The J.C. must assist in other duties when required.

Requirements 16 yrs old( With completion of CIT Program) 17 yrs old otherwise

Assets Completion of CIT program

Our mission is to provide children living in vulnerable circumstances with an affordable, happy, outdoor experience, in which they can build self-confidence, develop positive relationships and learn valuable life skills in an environment that promotes group learning and nurtures each camper individually.
