Overview of the role

As Manager QA Systems, you will lead a dynamic team of QA Systems Analysts and Specialists within the Quality Assurance Department. Your role is pivotal in ensuring regulatory, food safety, and quality compliance (notably under GFSI scope), while supporting high-demand customers. You will leverage systems, process improvements, and your team’s unique skills to optimize output, reduce inefficiencies, and proactively prevent non-conformities. This position reports to Director Quality Assurance Systems and Regulatory Affairs

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Oversee performance evaluations, competency development, and succession planning
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining oversight of critical QA deliverables and timelines
  • Support onboarding, team communication, and project delegation

QA Systems Strategy & Compliance

  • Oversee quality evaluations for new product categories, aligning with business goals and supporting implementation
  • Drive standardization and optimization of internal programs, procedures, and policies, ensuring audit-readiness and compliance with regulatory, certification, and food safety standards (CFIA, GFSI, Kosher, Non-GMO)
  • Manage QA-related non-conformities, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Oversee complaint management, leveraging analytics to improve resolution speed and reporting accuracy
  • Manage supplier and item approvals, including ongoing supplier performance monitoring
  • Ensure consistent and standard responses to quality-related inquiries
  • Lead implementation and ongoing management of internal and external systems, ensuring alignment with corporate compliance goals and audit requirements

Quality Intelligence & Risk Management

  • Monitor evolving food safety standards, export requirements, and certification/claims criteria
  • Analyze non-conformity trends across plants and systems, implementing corrective actions to reduce risk and improve compliance
  • Advise senior leadership on food safety and quality risks and mitigation strategies using data-driven insights
  • Maintain stakeholder satisfaction through agile response to internal and external quality inquiries

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure food safety and quality compliance is embedded in all stages of product development and commercialization
  • Provide cross-functional support to various internal departments, acting as a key resource for quality and administrative needs as well as customer requests

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Champion digital transformation initiatives within the QA function and optimize internal SOPs
  • Coordinate QA documentation and updates in systems in place
  • Monitor and improve project management, document control, and reporting systems to enhance team efficiency and responsiveness

Operational Oversight

  • Prepare and track budget
  • Manage incoming project assignments
  • Support and provide guidance to team with decision making and outstanding issues
  • Ensure proper communication tools are in place within the team
  • Coordinate new employee onboarding and internship program

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the food or dairy industry, with proven experience in personnel management or in leading projects involving functional (dotted line) supervision
  • Excellent understanding of Canadian regulatory and food safety standards, including CFIA and GFSI, with hands-on experience in managing supplier documentation and data analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 and SharePoint, with the ability to manage and optimize digital systems and workflows
  • Fluency in both French and English, essential for effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, with the ability to contribute to cross-functional projects

Salary scale: From $90 530 to $118 820

  • Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training
